WhatsApp, one of the most widely used messaging services worldwide, is always adding new features that enhance the user experience. Recently, WhatsApp introduced a feature that enables users to sign in with several devices, including a laptop, tablet, and smartphone. Additionally, the platform unveiled WhatsApp Communities, a tool that would let users manage many groups that are associated with a single subject by combining them.

A user may occasionally find themselves receiving messages from strangers or people they don’t know very well since WhatsApp allows users to speak with others. The decision to continue the chat is entirely up to the user, but they may also choose to keep their personal information, such as their profile photo and About section, a secret from these individuals. Users of WhatsApp might, for private reasons, desire to keep their profile image hidden from certain contacts.

There were initially three privacy options available to WhatsApp users for their profile image, Last seen status, and About section. They might choose to make their profile image or last seen status available to all users on the network, solely to their connections, or to keep it private. While users can control their profile’s exposure using these settings, WhatsApp has now added another choice. WhatsApp revealed a new privacy setting in June 2022 that will let users hide their profile information from particular people. Both Android and iPhone support the feature.

Since contacts are arranged alphabetically, typing the contact’s name is a better option than scrolling and searching manually. If a user wants to make their profile picture visible only to a few select contacts, they can tap on the ‘Select all’ button. This will hide their profile picture from all contacts, and users can then unselect the contacts they want to show their profile picture to.

Similarly, in the ‘Privacy‘ section, users can tweak the visibility of their ‘About‘ section, which appears when someone views their WhatsApp profile. In addition, users can hide their Last seen status from specific contacts on the platform. This feature also exists on Instagram, where users can hide their Stories from some users. The ‘My contacts except..‘ setting was previously only available for a user’s WhatsApp status, where users could hide their status updates from select contacts.
